Grip Sock Care FAQ

How should I wash my Slow Burn grip socks?

Machine wash cold (30 °C / 86 °F) on a gentle cycle. Turn socks inside out before washing and use a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Avoid fabric softeners and bleach — both degrade the grip dots and elastic fibres over time.

Can I put them in the dryer?

Air dry only. Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Tumble drying — even on low — shortens grip life and can cause the grip dots to peel or harden prematurely.

How often should I wash them?

After every use. Oils, sweat, and studio floor residue build up on the grip dots and reduce traction. Washing promptly also helps preserve elasticity.

Will washing in hot water ruin the grip?

Yes. Heat — whether from hot water or a dryer — is the leading cause of grip dot adhesion failure. Stick to cold water and air drying.

How can I extend the life of my socks?

Rotate between at least two pairs so each pair fully dries and rests between sessions. Avoid wearing grip socks on rough outdoor surfaces, which abrade the grip dots faster than studio floors.

When is it time to replace my grip socks?

Consider replacing when you notice any of the following:

  • Grip dots are visibly peeling, cracking, or missing in patches
  • You feel slippage on surfaces where the socks previously held
  • The fabric has thinned, pilled heavily, or lost its shape
  • The elastic no longer keeps the sock snug around the arch and ankle

With proper cold-wash / air-dry care and regular rotation, most grip socks remain fully functional for many months of regular use — but grip wear is normal and expected over time.

Why are my grip dots peeling?

The most common causes are heat exposure (dryer or hot wash), fabric softener use, and abrasive surfaces. If peeling starts early, check your wash routine first.

Do I need grip socks for my studio class?

Studio grip-sock requirements vary by location and instructor. Please check directly with your studio before your session.
